This show proved to me that Marvel could go really dark in the MCU when it wanted to, and having it grounded in reality was a great decision in my opinion, because it made for great characters like The Man Without Fear, Daredevil. Daredevil was one of Marvel Studios’ attempt to bring the MCU into a smaller setting for those who want more of their favorite heroes even if they were not on the screen, you also had Agents of SHIELD, which ties directly more into the MCU than these other shows, but Daredevil was the first of these Netflix shows to focus on different superheroes without having to tell them on the big screen and for Daredevil, they succeeded tremendously. This show is one of my favorite Netflix original shows next to Stranger Things, and it all works for me because of the massive amounts of character development in this show, particularly with Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page. What this show also included was a great villain, Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin, this show gives you his backstory in just a few episodes and shows his desires and motives for why he is a great villain, heck, Vincent D’Onofrio’s acting is really what makes Wilson Fisk work as a great villain in the MCU, he’s intimidating, he’s creepy, he has understandable desires, and he just wants to take his empire to legitimacy and he’ll sacrifice anything, even innocent civilians in order to get what he wants. What this show also does well is the cinematography, there is one particular moment in Season 1 & 3 where Daredevil is fighting bad guys in a hallway, and what makes it so damn good is the fact that the camera follows him all throughout the scene, that’s right, it’s mostly a one-shot scene. Daredevil is my favorite Marvel-Netflix series, and it got better with each season, particularly Season 3. Season 3 has one of the best comeback stories that I’ve ever seen in a TV show like this. Honestly, you just need to watch this show, it’s awesome, and I really wished it had gone on for a few more seasons.
