I eventually had to watch this show; I mean how could I not watch it. After the first season, I was really hooked into these characters and wanted to see what would happen to them in the future. Season two had its slow moments but eventually got good in the last few episodes of the season. After that, almost each season got better as it moved along, right up until the beginning of Season 8, which I have not listed as I quit watching the show around that point. What this show does so well is give you a set of characters to care for and make you strive to see where they go from there. Just like Game of Thrones, anyone could die in the show, and most of the original cast would indeed die, sometimes at the most unexpected moments. I loved seeing the development of Rick Grimes in this show, he goes from an average Sheriff to a walker-slaying soldier who will not hesitate to kill anyone who gets in his way or his family. Another character was Darryl Dixon, he also was one of my favorite characters because he was cool, edgy, almost Fonzie-like, and an overall a badass in Walker-slaying along with Rick. Really it was all about seeing these characters be put into dangerous situations and how they would solve the problem, mostly it was how to get around walkers, hoards of walkers, or rogue individuals who would not hesitate to kill anybody just so they can loot them. If I had to pick my favorite season, it would probably be Season 4 or 5 because it had the greatest number of shocking scenes in the show, some brutally sad. Season 6 and 7 was where the show started to tune out in my opinion. It just focused on human’s vs humans, there were barely any walkers and the walkers were barely killed in brutal ways because the showrunners were told to tone down the amount of gore in the show after the opening to Season 7. I will say that Season 7 brought us another great villain, Negan. Jeffery Dean Morgan’s portrayal of Negan is so good, and you can tell throughout the show that he is having a ball with playing the character. This character is incredibly ruthless and does not care if you are a family trying to survive, he will take what is his without question and will kill you without question if you so much as fart in his face. Negan was the best villain in this show and it’s a shame that he’s not as evil as he was in later seasons. He was the reason that I kept watching the show because I wanted to see what he would do next to the group. The Walking Dead was worth watching for seven seasons, it brought the tension levels up real high and had great drama. It was worth watching just for the concept alone, staying alive in a walker-infested world.
