#13. Breaking Bad 💖
This show broke barriers for me when I finally saw it. I saw that a show could become better and better with each season and that it can use cinematic elements to the fullest effect, and it will have the same level of emotional impact. Breaking Bad is the closest show you can get to having a perfect show and it has some of the best written characters of our generation.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are two of the best written duos of our time, everything that goes into their development just works. Walter White has a great transition from good to bad and each episode, you see him go from an average chemistry teacher to a ruthless drug lord with a huge criminal empire. Everyone around Walt becomes dramatically different and grows to fear him in the end, I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it. Jesse Pinkman also has a great character arc; you see him suffer so much pain through relationships and drugs and it becomes emotional to the point to where you feel pity for him that you hope he escapes from all of this pain and suffering.
The show does have other characters and most of them are supporting, but I think they all do a good job because of the way the actors and actresses do a great job of making me hate them, or love them. To me, when you can convince me to feel certain feelings for you, you’ve done your done job right in terms of acting.
Not only did we get two of the best written main characters of our time, we also get one of the best villains of our time and that would be Gustavo Fring, played by Giancarlo Esposito. Gustavo Fring is one of the best interpretations of a man who seems nice on the outside but is really evil on the inside. Honestly, the best scenes with Gus Fring are spoilers, so I won’t reveal it for anyone, just know, he’s one of my favorite villains of all time.
I will say that the first season can make some people want to switch off, but here me out, it’s only a few episodes and you really need to watch all of it because it really starts to get good in Season 2.
I think this show is timeless because it is one of my favorite examples to use whenever someone asks what is one the best show to binge-watch from beginning to end, I will always say that Breaking Bad is one of them. Honestly, this show gets better and better with each season and no other show has ever reached the very top like Breaking Bad did. Just watch it, it’s great.
